Anyone can do color-by-number, anyone can subscribe to Orthodoxy, but problem solving, problem formulation, and problem evolution are what few can do well. The answer is the problem, not any bias. Diversity of opinion and perspective produce the right stuff for the people who are as unique and as compelling as the requirements.
02 We get that businesses aren't vacuums and that technology is an ecosystem
Fundamental to our understanding of technology is that technology works when it plays well (or doesn't) with others. Pick one vendor or pick thirty. Communicate with your partners or be anti-social. Have the freedom to choose. This is the reality; this is healthy and considerably more fun.
03 Simple is beautiful but clever is perfect
Somewhere in that software hides the potential for a clever user interface that focuses on the "user" in UI. People are built for doing and not for unusable software. Look for the organic, modern interfaces that make them smile. Go for the kind of visceral, gut-wrenching happiness that lets them be creative and get back to work (or to play)— the kind of experience that makes the software a natural extension of their mind. Eschew complexity; no one's impressed by it.
04 Embrace change; don't let the future stay in the future forever
Call it a leap of faith, call it casting aside all doubts and worries, call it reckless abandon, but change is inevitable.
